Limits to Confidentiality and Communication

I strive to keep the information you share with me in confidence and to guard your privacy. Not only is it important to hold your trust but I am also bound by professional and ethical standards. Any clinical notes or personal information are securely stored.

However, there are limits to confidentiality. I may have a duty to report the following:

• If you are at immediate or serious risk of harming yourself or another person.
• If you are abusing and/or neglecting a child or a vulnerable adult.
• If I am ordered by court to disclose confidential information.

Though these situations may be rare in private practice, I will discuss with you beforehand if I am required to disclose any of your information. 

Communication by text or email are used only for the purpose of scheduling or cancelling appointments unless agreed upon information about a session.
